I just watched the video about the new Magic Mouse from Apple. Very impressive! Nice looking design.

I was just talking this weekend to family that since Mac OS X, we’ve really been seeing Apple in the “Golden Age.” It’s always been good, don’t get me wrong, but things are great. Apple continues to roll out product after product that raises the bar. Makes me feel that Apple’s only competitor is itself.

Reunion for the iPhone

I bought my first application from the App Store for my iPhone yesterday. Truth be told, I’ve pretty much waited for a Reunion app since the first day I got my iPhone. I knew it was something I was going to add when it eventually came out. I spent $14.99. It’s early yet, but it’s definitely worth it to me. Having my entire family file available at all times is a huge thing for me. I can just pull it out and get the information I need. The app was nicely done and I’m glad it wasn’t rushed out the door. It’s a solid, solid offering. Very feature rich — check out the video.

Reunion is now available for the iPhone and iPod Touch. It’s designed to complement Reunion for Macintosh and lets you take your family with you. View, navigate, search, and edit your information on the go. You’ll always be ready to add people, document new information, and make corrections to your data. Then bring the changes back to your family file on the Macintosh.

I’ve got 22,000+ people in my family file and everything looks very familiar to the Reunion native app that we Reunion users have grown to love. The only issue that I’ve encountered has to do with pictures not being imported. Once I or Leister Productions works out that kink, all will be good.

This app does not disappoint. I’ll be hauling Reunion into cemeteries without worrying about bringing my computer.

Life is tough

Last month we got a new iMac for the family. Good little rig, but here’s the kicker. Apple has a deal where you buy a Mac and you get an iPod. Free. It wasn’t my plan to walk away with one, but there you have it. So I buy the iMac and the gal behind the counter says, “Which iPod do you want?” I have a choice? So I get directed to the iPod area and am told that I can choose an iPod Nano or an iPod Touch. Here’s how out of the loop I’ve been…I had no clue the iPod Touch existed. Terrible, I know. A Mac-guy and all. So I take less than a second to select the iPod Touch. It’s an iPhone wannabe (I’ve seen those before, so I’m not totally clueless). I must say that it’s a slick device and I’m using it.

Naturally, I’ve made some adjustments — but I’m guessing that a fair amount of Touch owners have done the same.

Mail.app gripe

So in the interest of getting more organized and processing email quickly, I did some stuff in Mail.app. One thing I discovered while messing with that Address Book groups and creating Smart Mailboxes using those groups is that email addresses have to match exactly.

fakeaddress@domain.com != FAKEADDRESS@domain.com

I kept wondering why so-and-so’s emails were not magically appearing. That’s the reason. Thanks Mail.app!
