Google Reader

I’ll admit it. I’m not a huge consumer of information. I usually seek out what I need, read it and move on. I started using del.icio.us this year and I like my chances of using it for the long term. It’s serving a purpose for me. I just started using Google Reader this week and I must say that I’m quite pleased. I didn’t think it’d be all that useful, but it’s been nice.

My general workflow for going to websites has usually operated like this, “Hey, I haven’t been to such-and-such blog in a while — I better head back there and see what’s going on.” Then I’d go and read what’s there. Sometimes I’d hit a homerun and read the latest. More often than not, I’d see what I read the last time I was there. Now that I’m a rookie Google Reader user, I can see the value in using it. It has been a terrific time saver. I no longer need to rely (read: rifle through the old melon) on self-prompting to visit a newspaper or other site. Using GR has made that process a snap. It magically keeps track of things for me.

Yeah, yeah. I should have been using this all along, but I’m a bit slow to adopt in some areas. Better late than never!

About Schulte

Darrell Schulte knows enough be dangerous, but so far hasn't messed anything up (too badly).
