Video games aid doctors

My brother-in-law is a DPM. Yeah, a Doctor or Podiatric Medicine. A podiatrist. He’s said for years that video games help him with his manual dexterity for doing surgery on those areas below the knee. I don’t know if he knew that it would help from some study out there before extolling the merits of gaming or not, but the CNET article, Doctor, did you warm up with ‘Grand Theft Auto’? talks about a study that looked at 303 surgeons participating in a study to examine just that. Apparently, it does help.

I’d be a decent surgeon, but my memorization skills aren’t worth beans (plus I’m not a fan of needles). Now all I need are my kids to grow up and demand a game console…
