Stop in at the US Forest Service ranger station (on 38 as well) in Marcell to get a map and directions to Lost Forty. Hope for lots of snow and take your snowshoes and enjoy! I used to live in Bigfork and this is truly a very special place. I've hiked in in snowshoes in thigh deep drifts and during summers in shorts. You get the same feeling whenever you get under amongst those aged pines...these are sentinels of the living history of our space on this planet. I'm taking a young lady who lives in Grand Rapids there for her first time. It will be fun to see her reaction. It's hard to believe but it seems like most of the people I know in that area have never been there. Amazing. I hope you get there soon and I highly recommend a winter tromp in.
