I’d rather watch professional wrestling!

Decisions are made everyday.

I’ve decided today that if given a choice between watching roller derby or professional wrestling, I’ll choose professional wrestling. No offense to the folks that partake in this “sport” or the people that enjoy watching the roundabout nature of roller derby, I just don’t get it.

Sure, it’s billed as a social event for these high rollers as well as entertainment for the patrons…but I simply fail to see the entertainment value. With wrestling, you at least get some theatrics that lend itself to the “stage.”

Which brings me to another topic that deserves mention: racing.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that car racing (NASCAR and the like) and professional wrestling dominate the area of spectator sports in the United States — surpassing football, baseball, basketball and hockey. If that is indeed true, it’s staggering to think about because I like racing about as much as I like professional wrestling. Sure these drivers whip around the track at unimaginable speeds and some even have spectacular crashes, but it just doesn’t do it for me. I guess I’m not wired up right to appreciate this sport either.

If something with mind-numbing possibilities needs to be revived, as roller derby appears to be doing, it definitely needs to be American Gladiators. Gladiators had a nice eight year run on television and is probably due for another go soon. Ice, Laser, Nitro and their other gladiator pals bashing regular folks on a daily basis…now that’s entertainment.
